Miami Beach: City Manager in Hot Seat

Many foreigners move to the United States to escape the ills of their homelands, including public corruption. Unfortunately, Miami-Dade county rivals many of the most corrupt regimes when it comes to feeding at the public trough. Unfortunately for far too many officials, a government job is the same thing as a license to steal. The latest, Miami Beach Mayor Matti Herrera Bower has denied commissioners’ call for a special meeting to discuss last week’s public corruption arrests and the city manager’s fate.
