Perez has idea to create Lincoln Road-type mall on Miami Avenue

Mary Brickell Lincoln Road Planned

Lately it seems, what Jorgie wants, Jorgie gets.  The latest thing Jorgie — developer Jorge Pérez – wants is for the city of Miami to shut down part of South Miami Avenue and turn it into a Lincoln Road-type pedestrian mall.

The concept would complement his Related Group’s SLS condo-hotel project at 1300 S. Miami Ave., which will start construction in six months, and Swire Properties’ Brickell City Centre, which is under construction. Mary Brickell Village and an array of condos, restaurants and bars are already creating an urban village in the Brickell area.

Honestly, I don’t think it’s a bad idea.  However, I wish it could be accomplished without the construction that goes along with it, because that will be a nightmare for those of us who live and work in the area.
