Former Aventura Principal Wins $155 Million from a Miami Jury

Facing a jury is a bit like playing the lottery in both outcome and award.  The reason most law suits settle is because of that lottery or “chance” aspect of jury trial.  Take the case of  Katherine Murphy, a former principal at a city run charter school.  She came out on the right side of the lottery.  She was fired from a city-run charter school in 2006, and then alleged the city manager and school registrar conspired to ruin her reputation.  $155 Million and six years later, she feels some sense of vindication.
